More people watched New Orleans’ Super Bowl victory on Sunday night than any other broadcast in history.
The Saints’ 31-17 win over Indianapolis on CBS was seen by a record total of 153.4 million people, beating the mark set with last year’s big game (151.6 million).
It also had a record average audience of 106.5 million viewers, topping the gold standard of television events, the 1983 series finale of M*A*S*H (106 million).
Super Bowl XLIV’s household rating was 45.0, meaning 45 percent of all households were tuned in, best for a Super Bowl in 14 years.
